ReviewEdge Privacy Policy

Effective 23 August 2026 Version 1.0

The short version

ReviewEdge has no servers and no accounts. It reads publicly visible reviews on the Amazon page you are already looking at, analyses them inside your own browser, and stores the results on your own computer.

Nothing is sent anywhere unless you switch on AI analysis, in which case review excerpts go to the AI provider you chose using your own API key. We operate no analytics and no tracking of any kind.

1Who this policy covers

This policy describes how the ReviewEdge browser extension (“the extension”, “we”) handles information. It applies to the extension only. It does not cover Amazon, your AI provider, or Gumroad, each of which has its own policy governing what it does with data it receives.

2What the extension processes

DataWhere it is processedLeaves your device?
Public Amazon review text
ratings, titles, bodies, dates, verified-purchase flags
In your browser No — unless you run AI analysis
Public product details
title, brand, price, ASIN, rating count
In your browser No — unless you run AI analysis
Your AI provider API key chrome.storage.local Only to the provider you selected
Your licence key chrome.storage.sync Only to Gumroad, to verify it
Saved reports chrome.storage.local No
Daily usage counter
a number and a date
chrome.storage.local No

The extension activates only on Amazon product and review pages. It does not read, monitor, or transmit your browsing on any other site.

3What we do not collect

To state it plainly, because a lot of extensions do these things:

4When data does leave your device

AI analysis (optional, off by default)

If you supply an API key and press Generate action plan, the extension sends a condensed summary to the AI provider you selected. That summary contains the public product title and ASIN, aggregate statistics computed locally, and a sample of review excerpts. It is transmitted directly from your browser to that provider over HTTPS, authenticated with your own key. It does not pass through any server of ours, because we do not operate one.

What the provider then does with that request is governed by their policy, not this one. The extension supports OpenAI, DeepSeek, Anthropic and OpenRouter; review the policy of whichever you choose.

Licence verification

If you enter a licence key, it is sent to api.gumroad.com to confirm the purchase is valid and has not been refunded. The result is cached locally for 24 hours so this check runs at most once a day. No other information accompanies the request.

Review page retrieval

To analyse more than the handful of reviews shown on a product page, the extension requests additional review pages from the same Amazon domain you are browsing, exactly as your browser would if you clicked through to them yourself. These requests go to Amazon and nowhere else.

5Storage and retention

All extension data lives in Chrome's own extension storage on your computer. Your licence key uses chrome.storage.sync, which means Chrome may sync it to your other signed-in Chrome installations; everything else uses chrome.storage.local and stays on that one device. Saved reports are capped at the 50 most recent.

Uninstalling the extension deletes all of it. You can also clear it at any time from the extension's settings page or through Chrome's extension controls. There is no copy held anywhere else, so there is nothing for you to request from us and nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

6Permissions and why each is needed

The extension requests no other permissions. It does not use <all_urls>, does not request tab history, and executes no code loaded from a remote source.

7Children

ReviewEdge is a tool for commercial sellers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly process data from anyone under 13.

8Changes to this policy

If the extension's data handling changes, this page is updated and the effective date at the top changes with it. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
